Koyal Dark, Mango Sweet

KoyalcoverJeeta's family is caught up in the whirlwind of arranging marriages for her two older sisters, but the drama and excitement leave Jeeta cold. She knows that tradition demands the parade of suitors, the marriage negotiations, the elaborate displays, the expensive wedding parties - but where is the love and romance that the movies promise? She dreads her turn on the matrimonial circuit, especially since Mummy is always complaining about how difficult it will be to find Jeeta a good husband, with her dark skin and sharp tongue. As Jeeta spends more time with her new friend from school, Sarina, and her educated, liberal parents, she begins to question her tradition-bound family's expectations. And when she falls in love with Sarina's cousin Neel, Jeeta realizes that she must strike a balance between independence and duty and follow her own path. With its gentle humor and a rich sense of place, Koyal Dark, Mango Sweet is an engaging coming-of-age novel set in contemporary Mumbai.

Koyal Dark, Mango Sweet can be purchased through Amazon.com, or Barnes & Noble online.

Congratulations on your second book! I'm looking forward to the book launch at B&N in Madison too!

Congratulations! This is so exciting, I can't wait to read your new book! Love, Laura

Evan, it is always nice to see familiar faces at the signing. This is why it is fun to have an event in Madison. Thanks for your support. Kashmira

Laura,
You will like the cover too. You will recognize the hands! I hope to see you soon. Kashmira

To Kashmira:
I just can't wait to read this book!! I am an Indian, so I am very pleased about this book. Also, by looking on the cover, i can see that henna!!! It is sooo beautiful.

Hi Monika,

I hope you enjoyed reading Koyal Dark, Mango Sweet. Have you been to Mumbai?
I wanted to tell you that my younger daughter's hands are on the cover.
Thanks for writing to me.
Kashmira

Hi Kashmira: I just ordered our students a total of 60 books, some Blue Jasmine, some Koyal Dark, Mango Sweet and your picture book, My Dadima Wears a Sari. We are hoping you can come and discuss them with us in Lodi, WI. We have lots of students who will love to interact with you. I will visit you at WEMA since the last visit didn't fit your schedule and perhaps we can set something up! SIncerely, Steph

Hi Steph,
Thanks for ordering my books.
I would love to come to Lodi and visit with the students. WEMA is only a couple of weeks away and I look forward to seeing you there.
Kashmira

I just finished Koyal Dark, Mango Sweet and absolutely loved it. I was able to relate to so much of it because it was beautifully written. I'm glad I stopped by because I see you'll be in the Madison area.

I'm sorry but i did not enjoy your book. I believe that it did not have a strong enough plot and story line to keep the audience hooked. Even though i did finish it, it was not by choice.

hey
i recently read your book name ''Koyal Dark, Mango Sweet''. and i really enjoyed it and it was worth reading it. but i didn't like the way it ended. i was thinking that it might be change Jeeta's life. anyways i really enjoyed it.
thank you
Dhara

Hi Dhara,
I hope you can imagine strong and confident Jeeta at the end of the book who can take charge of her life.
Thanks for writing.
Kashmira

Dear Ms. Kashmira,
I am reading this book for a school project. However, I didn't get the way the book ended. Did Jeeta marry Neel? What happened?

Dear Natasha,
During the year Jeeta has emerged as an intelligent, confident woman. I felt that she was too young to marry Neel. I see her as continuing her education to become a lawyer and after she has achieved that, she will think about marriage.
Thanks for writing and good luck with your project.
Kashmira

hi that is an excellent book. i think that you should write another book so that we can see if neel and jeeta ever get together. i would love it if u made another book please and thank you.....anisha!=]

Hi Anisha,

Thanks for writing. A sequel is always harder to write, but I will think about it! Do you think Jeeta and Neel ended up together?
Kashmira

Dear, Kashmira
i think that Neel and Jeeta should end up together!! it is nice because all of the books i have read so far all the lovers always part ways. i think it should take place a couple of years later if u want.but it is nice for once to have to people end up together.thanks
anisha=]

Hi Anisha,

I think you have a great idea. I also would like Jeeta and Neel to get back together!
Kashmira

Dear Kashmira
I just finished reading your book...Koyal Dark, Mango Sweet. I found it while browsing for books in my public library. I really enjoyed reading it. I think @ the end there should be more story like what happened to Mohini and what happened to Jeeta's relationship with Neel. I look forward to reading your other books too.

Sony, thanks for writing. I think readers are eager to find out what happened to Mohini and Jeeta. Now I am tempted to write a second book!
Hope you enjoy my other books.
pLease write again.
Best,
Kashmira
